Chirita sinensis

This fine print is from a painting by Miss Drake, one of the best of the 19th century plant artists. It’s a very good representation of the plain green-leaved version of the plant and flower. Many variants of the species, mainly with silver markings on the leaves, are grown as ornamentals. Other prints can be seen here and here, and flowers here.

Note the illustration of the interior of a flower and of the ovary (seed pod).
