There were three early representations of this venerable species published within a year of each other. They are:
- This one, from Hooker’s Exotic Flora, the first publication of the species in 1827
- Loddiges’ Botanical Cabinet, 1827, also as Didymocarpus rexii
- Edwards’ Botanical Register, from 1828, under the current name Streptocarpus rexii, a superior representation of the species
