Columnea hirsutissima is a variable species, with flowers ranging from orange and yellow through pale rose. The leaves are also highly variable, with some, such as this example, with rich burgundy undersides. The berry, however, is always white. A photo of the variant C. hirsutissima ‘Redcoat’ has a yellow flower with red markings.
