Nematanthus crassifolius is a spreading/trailing species with distinctive flowers displayed on variably long dangling calyces.  Other Nematanthus have a similar dangling flower habit. These include N. corticola,  N. brasiliensis. and the hybrid N. ‘Stoplight’

N. crassifolius is a variable species. One variant, N. crassifolius “Carangola”, has flowers of a deeper hue and distinctive purple calyces.
