This species has similar leaves to species such as Primulina bipinnatifida, and out of flower can be difficult to distinguish from that species. While there are leaf differences, the most obvious differences are in the flowers. They are similar in several ways, but differ in color and in pedicel length. P. maciejewski has substantially longer pedicels, as can be seen in the comparison photo in the links below.
