Although this species is unifoliate, DNA analysis shows it to be most closely related to the other rosulate species in this Section. It grows on Mount Itremo, in central Madagascar in rock clefts. It possess a small, tube-shaped, violet corolla.
This species produces plants that have individual leaves that are a maximum of about 10 cm, and up to the same width but generally narrower.
