Streptocarpus caulescens is a member the subgenus Streptocarpella in Section Caulescentes, to which it has lent its name. Its native range is Kenya to NE Tanzania, in the wet tropical bione where it is often, but not always, epiphytic.

The species can be difficult to identify, as it has similarity to species like Str. holstii and Str. glandulosissimus. In general, it is a stemmed subshrub, usually with fairly succulent (as opposed to dry) stems, scrambling through other leafy plants. The flowers are pretty, but smaller than in similar species like holstii or glandulosissimus.

The feature plant above is growing epiphytically in Kenya.
