Streptocarpus nobilis is one of the idiosyncratic species growing in West Africa, far from the majority of species in the genus which are in East and Southern Africa. While it occurs on the mainland of West Africa, the plant featured above was photographed on the island state of São Tomé and Príncipe, off the coast of Gabon, Cameroon and Nigeria.
