Mitraria coccinea

Still known as M. coccinea. This is a semi-hardy plant, which can be grown outside as far north as Scotland. The print to the left, from Van Houtte, is earlier by a year. The Neubert print to the right, published in 1849, is clearly a copy, mirrored as a function of the copying process. Note the differences in hand coloring — the actual colors of most collections of the species are intermediate between these.
