Verbascum myconi

<

This print may be the earliest published color print of a Gesneriad, aside from color reproductions of earlier black and white engravings.

The species was published by Linnaeus as Verbascum, although assignment to that family/genus was clearly incorrect. Curtis took the name from Linnaeus, but it wasn’t published under the correct name until the 1830s. In the meantime, it spent some time as Ramonda pyranaica here (from a publication in the early 1800s), under which name it was often described through the 19th Century.
