This beautifully grown plant of a seldom-grown hybrid was exhibited at the 2022 convention of the Gesneriad Society.
Little is known as to the origin of A. ‘Iris August’, which was introduced to cultivation around 1980. It is said to be more cold tolerant than similar cultivars. We assume that it is the result of a cross of A. dianthiflora and A. punctata, or is a selfing of that cross.
