This interesting plant has large, showy and persistent calyces, which should be left on the plant after flowering for their decorative effect. The plant above was exhibited by David Turley at the 2026 Convention show of The Gesneriad Society. 

C. calochlamys is a compact and woody subshrub distributed from southern Mexico through Guatemala.
