The plant featured above was growing at The Amazon Spheres conservatory in Seattle, WA, as part of a display of smaller and delicate plants. Many of the plants at the Spheres are on a massive multi-story living wall.

Diastema affine is characterized by very bullate leaves, and typical white flowers with purple markings on the corolla lobes. Many Diastema have flowers similar to these, although some species and hybrids have red flowers.

The leaves on the Amazon Spheres plants were distinctly yellowish, compared to wild-growing plants. This is possibly an effect of higher light levels in the Spheres than in the wild on the forest floor.
