This fine cultivar was collected from the Orchid House at Belize Botanic Garden, in Belize (Central America). It is of unknown origin, but is presumed to be a wild selection of E. cupreata, grown and propagated as a horticultural subject. It is similar to E. cupreata var. viridifolia, and may be a descendent of that variety.

E. ‘Belize’ was registered as a cultivar by the Gesneriad Society in 2020.
