There are several large colonies of Jancaea heldreichii on Mount Olympus, protected by the primarily fact that they are quite inaccessible by man and other animals! The density of hairs on the leaves seems to vary somewhat with the amount of exposure to higher light, but they generally are growing in low to moderate light habitats.
