N. ‘Rio’ is a more upright-growing member of this genus, which makes it quite suitable as a table-top specimen in a bright location. I have grown it well in an east-facing picture window. The small but brightly coloured flowers show up well against the glossy mid-green foliage, and are produced in good numbers on a well-grown plant. It does tend to get scraggly after a while, but is easily propagated from tip cuttings.
