Streptocarpus huamboensis grows on Mount Moco, the highest mountain in Angola in Huambo Province, hence its name. It grows under very arid conditions to which it appears to have adapted quite well. It is a dwarf unifoliate (leaf c 100 x 80 mm) with tiny flowers (11 x 4 mm). Almost all parts of the plant are covered in hairs to protect against moisture loss, but also to capture moisture from mist. It apparently dies back under drought conditions like Streptocarpus meyeri, with only a tiny part of the basal leaf that survives and which sprouts again after rain. As a monocarpic species, it dies after flowering and setting seed.
