Streptocarpus kamerunensis is widely distributed in Central Africa, from Tanzania in the east, on the Indian Ocean, to Cameroon in the west, on the Atlantic Ocean. It grows in damp and shaded tropical rainforests. Like other members of Section Schizoboea it was formerly classified in the genus Schizoboea, since transferred to Streptocarpus.
This species probably has limited horticultural potential.
