Streptocarpus linguatusis a member of Streptocarpus subgenus Streptocarpella, Section Hova and as all members of this section hails from Madagascar. The herbaceous stems and leaves are typical for the subgenus Streptocarpella. It derives its name, Streptocarpus linguatus, from the middle lobe of the lower three lobes in the flower which projects forward like a tongue.
The species is in cultivation, and the feature plant was exhibited at the 2025 Convention show of The Gesneriad Society. Its tiny flowers that almost hang down in shame gives this species a particular charm.
