The so called resurrection plants are extensively studied. On the Balkans beside Haberlea rhodopensis occur Ramonda nathaliae, R. serbica and Jankaea heldreichii. The aim of the present paper is to review the current knolwledge about the Tertiary relicts of Gesneriaceae growing on the Balkans, to analyse comparatively the existing literature data and outline implications for further research.
