Abstract

Moussonia larryskogii (Gesneriaceae), a new species from Oaxaca and Veracruz, Mexico, is described. This species resembles Moussonia strigosa (C. V. Morton) Wiehler, from Costa Rica, but differs mainly in the vilose pubescence with adpressed trichomes almost throughout the entire plant, 2 or 3 leaves per node, lower surface of the leaf not bullate, branched inflorescence a compound cyme, not umbelliform, tubular flower, and the obconic tube of the calyx. A possible natural hybrid between this species and Moussonia hirsutissima is presented.
