Abstract

Oreocharis Benth. (1876: 1021) comprises about 80 species of Gesneriaceae distributed in the Old World tropics and subtropics. Based on molecular and morphological analyses, Möller et al. (2011) proposed to include several genera and species of Chinese Gesneriaceae in Oreocharis to correspond to monophyly of the group. Among the newly proposed combinations the authors included Didissandra glandulosa Batalin (1892:175) = Oreocharis glandulosa (Batalin) Mich.Möller & A.Weber (in Möller et al. 2011: 21).

Tan et al. (2013) described a new species in Oreocharis from southern Yunnan, China, which they named O. glandulosa Y.H.Tan & J.W.Li (in Tan et al. 2013: 30). This name is invalid because it is a later homonym of O. glandulosa (Batalin) Mich.Möller & A.Weber. Because the name of Tan et al. (2013) is illegitimate (in accordance with Article 53.1 of the ICN (McNeill et al. 2012), a new name is proposed here for this species:

Oreocharis yunnansis Rossini & J. Freitas, nom. nov.
