The authors describe the rediscovery of Gesneria humilis in Haiti, more than 270 years since it’s first description by the missionary Charles Plumier. G. humilis is the type species for Gesneria, and for the entire Gesneriad family; locating and documenting where it was seen by Plumier was the objective, and this was (unexpectedly) successful.
