Taxonomic revision of Sinningia Nees : nomenclatural changes and new synonymies

Sixteen new combinations and a new name are proposed preliminary to a revision of the genus Sinningia Nees. Revised synonymies, typifications and a few comments on the taxonomic changes are provided. The new combinations and new name are Sinningia calcaria, S. cochlearis, S. conspicua, S. curtiflora, S. defoliata, S. douglasii, S. elatior, S. gigantifolia, S. glazioviana, S. insularis, S. lateritia, S. leopoldii, S. lineata, S. macrostachya, S. piresiana, S. schomburgkiana, and S. warmingii.
