Location continental Africa: The species in section Streptocarpus are rosulate or unifoliate with one exception, Streptocarpus decipiens. If the relationships of the species in this section are analyzed, then they can be placed into different groups of which each has distinctive characteristics. Within this section these group geographically from central to southern Africa (Moeller and Cronk, 2001).
The following pages contain species listings for each of the groups within this Section. It is important to note the species were placed in these groups based on their phylogenetic relationships within Section Streptocarpus as published in Nishii et al., 2015. In phylogenetic terms it means that those species listed in the different groups form clades in the Nishii et al., 2015 phylogeny. For the horticulturist and hybridizer, it means that the species in a group can most probably be hybridized with each other successfully.
