Streptocarpus ionanthus ssp. orbicularis has two distinct forms in cultivation. Most frequently seen is the pale violet flowered clone Streptocarpus ionanthus ssp. orbicularis cl. orbicularis, which is featured above. Another form, Streptocarpus ionanthus ssp. orbicularis cl. purpurea, has dark purplish/blue flowers.

This sub-species can form either a rosette plant or a tightly bunched trailer. Leaves are oval and slightly glossy, with toothed margins. Flowers are relatively small, and the multiple blooms per stalk are prone to drooping.
