Gesnera mollis

Now known as Kohleria hirsuta.

In the accompanying text, particular note is made of the “soft down with which its leaves and stems are clothed”, with the note that this is the subject of the specific name “mollis” — meaning soft. It also notes that it’s growth habit is not at all “soft”, and that the species can grow upwards of 5 feet, or 1.5 meters.
