This old and beautiful cultivar was growing path-side in the new RHS Wisley glasshouse in October of 2007.
A. ‘Ambroise Verschaffelt’ was created in the mid-19th Century, and is at least 150 years old. The fact that it is still in cultivation attests to both its beauty and its vigor. An antique print dating from 1855 can be seen here.
