The cultivar name is taken from the bell-shaped crimson red calyces.
It appears from online images that this cultivar may still be in cultivation, although many of the images under this name are not actually A. ‘Crimson Bell’. Note the slightly elongated calyx that flares at the end. Some plants to which the name is applied have much broader calyces, and appear to be variants of A. tricolor or similar species. The name is often misspelled ‘Crimson Bells’.
