This seldom seen genus is closely related to Gasteranthus (e.g. G. quitensis), and has similar requirements for constant moisture, high humidity and low light.

The feature photo above was exhibited at the Gesneriad Society convention in 2013. Another photo shows a similar plant, which might be the same species. It was grown at the Smithsonian Institution, from seed collected in Ecuador.
