Didymocarpus primulifolius is native to the Himalayas, including Nepal and southern Tibet. In parts of its range it is known locally as the Primrose Leaved Stone Flower. It has been reported as having a pleasing scent, with plants being collected from Nepalese forests for sale to local incense makers, or smuggled to India or China.
