Neomortonia rosea is a small species, with leaves about 1 cm in length and flowers up to 2.8 cm long and about the same wide. The plant is typically epiphytic or lithophytic (grows in moss on trees and rocks), and will clamber over adjacent mossy rocks and branches, and sometimes trail.

It is said to be fairly easy to grow in moist and warm greenhouse conditions, but most home growers find it difficult. The beautiful pink fimbriate flowers make it a worthwhile species to try.
