This variant of the species tends to have somewhat laxer and shorter stems than the basic form. It has contributed flower shape and robust habit to hybrids such as S. ‘Tinkerbells’ and S. ‘Apricot Bouquet’. The foliage tends to be a bit sticky and emits a distinctly herbaceous odor — quite pleasant especially when the leaves are brushed.
