Sinningia canastrensis is a rare and unusual species. It is in the Corthyloma group within the genus, and is therefore fairly closely related to other Corytholoma species. These include microminiatures like S. pusilla, S. muscicola and S. concinna, as well as larger species like S. brasiliensis, S. sellovii and S. tubiflora. The hybridizing potential is enormous.

It is reported to be difficult to grow well, but as we gain more collective experience it may prove more amenable to horticulture.
