Streptocarpus schliebeni is again an oddball species which has a herbaceous stem like members of subgenus Streptocarpella do, but DNA analysis indicates that it falls into this section. It produces a soft stem up to a length of up to 1 m, with inflorescences that develop in the leaf axils. Each inflorescence bears so many flowers that it appears to then limit the growth of the terminal stem. Flowers are small, pouch shaped and white (c. 12 mm long). It grows only in the Nguru Mountains in Tanzania, a habitat often shared with African violets.
