This hybrid of Rhytidophyllum rupincola and Gesneria ventricosa makes a beautiful specimen. The specimen featured above was exhibited at the 2010 convention of the Gesneriad Society. Other photos of show plants can be seen in a slideshow by clicking one of the links below.

At the time that the hybrid was created by Toshijiro Okuto of Japan, R. rupincola was known as Gesneria rupincola. The hybrid was named Gesneria ‘Ako Cardinal Flight’, and distributed under that name. It was only when G. rupincola was transferred by botanists to Rhytidophyllum that it became an intergeneric hybrid with the combined name of  xRhytidoneria.
