Location continental Africa: All species in this section are caulescent herbs some of which have a lax and weedy habit and grow well in sufficiently moist habitats. All species have open tubed flowers except for Streptocarpus saxorum which has keyhole shaped flowers. This species also has a very attractive trailing habit making it suitable for hanging baskets. S. saxorum has been hybridized with Streptocarpus stomandrus to produce an attractive trailing hybrid, S. ‘Concord Blue’, which is widely available as a summer basket plant in many countries.
