S. hirsuta is an attractive but somewhat difficult to grow species. It requires fair humidity if the leaves are to be maintained in reasonable condition, with fairly bright light producing the most blooms. Another photo can be seen here. A close-up exhibited in the 2020 virtual show of the Gesneriad Society illustrates the elegance and beauty of these small flowers.

S. hirsuta has seen somewhat limited use in hybridizing, but one of the most interesting and successful of recent Sinningia hybrids, S. ‘Amizade’, managed to capitalize on its floriferous nature while improving on its ease of culture.
