• Enter or edit the genus name, which is automatically italicized in the displayed page
  • Enter or edit Editor name(s), and ensure the appropriate contact form is specified. If it’s not, contact the Admins. When there are two or more editors, enter a contact form only for the last one; all editors will get emails with contact details.
  • Specify links to be displayed on the page – Species, Hybrids and/or Intergenerics. Only specify categories for which there are Plant Pages.  All genera will have Species selected, but many genera have no hybrids, and only a few genera have Intergeneric hybrids.
  • Ensure Gesneriad Genera is selected as the parent page, and that Genus Page is selected as the template.
  • Enter or edit text for the “genus header” in the main text box, using the typical editing tools.  If pasting text, ensure you are pasting plain text, as formatted text can cause problems.  Ensure that appropriate italicization is used for Latin names, and that any links are properly set.
  • Set or change the featured image.  If you want to change the image, first choose “Remove Featured Image”. Click “Set Featured Image” to choose an image from the Media Library, using search to find the right image.
  • Make sure you save your work.  If you’ve created a new page, click “Publish” to save; if you are editing an existing page, the same button will say “Update”, and you click it to save your changes. It’s a good idea to Update regularly when you are working on a page, after setting or changing some function or adding text. Sometimes things won’t work as expected in the Dashboard view until you save changes.
